We will be fundraising for an international music exchange program with Gangway in Berlin, Germany. Our Diverse collective of 10 youth artists will travel to Berlin, Germany in April 2022 while 10 Berlin Youth Artists will travel to Detroit, Mi. Our collective is currently collaborating via Zoom to create an international album with 20 artists. This will be WACC’s 4th international music exchange.

Outdoor space for communities of color is limited. The Covid 19 pandemic has taught us just how important an outdoor community hub is and can be. 

We hope to expand and improve our vibrant outdoor spaces that will include the back alley, 3 backyards, a community garden, and our corner lot to host farmers and artisans markets, while providing an outdoor event space, house a permanent performance stage, and create an outdoor space to gather and  build community.

Culture 365 is a year-long series of programming events throughout the city that promotes music, art and culture for the people of Detroit. Through this project we hope not only to curate our own events but also highlight, promote, and share the events that happen everyday in Detroit. We feel these areas will best allow us to impact our community by creating events that represent needed spaces for expression. Such events include: festivals, open mic series, cultural events, and more. 3 major cultural events we will host through the year are; Vibes with the Tribes, Juneteenth, and Dia de los Muertos. We will also be hosting poetry events every other week, music festivals to support local Detroit artists, and workshops to expand the experience and perspectives of Detroit. 

WACC has had free accesibile studio, space, and equipment for the past 7 years servicing hundreds of youth from across Detroit. These funds will allow WACC to expand by creating additional studio space at Western International High school allowing access to equipment, education, and creating employment opportunities through workforce development training.

We will also use funds to restore our famed Culture House located in the heart of Southwest Detroit. Our goal is to activate 3 music studios, 1 media lab, a Mental health room, and 3 residential rooms for visiting, traveling, and working youth artists. Additionally some funds will be used for the beautification of the outer esthetic of the culture house compound such as new windows, fencing,porch, ect. 

These funds will be used to hire a full time youth organizer dedicated to our multiple programs, projects, and activities. They will be responsible for our day-to-day youth programming, on site activations at the culture house, and community outreach. This position will be filled by a We Are Culture Creators member and will be 18-24 year old.
